Miss America 2012 & Giveaway

My apologies for not posting the last week, I was pretty caught up with the annual Miss America Party I throw & have finally recuperated!

Funny story... I lost the keys to my car and was late to my own party,
Thank Goodness my Co-Host was on it!
I was rescued by a dear friend & my frazzled nerves were soothed by velvet cake balls :)
We arrived after the pedis but in time for the games & the show
(Pictures to come later?)
Miss Texas Scrapbook
As the night began,
I had already picked my top 5 to win;
Miss Florida, Miss Texas, Miss Oklahoma, Miss Hawaii, & Miss Arizona
Some of my guest also favored Miss New York & Miss South Carolina (who was known for her extreme weight loss)

A word to the wise...
If one of these Beautiful & Intelligent ladies wins a scholarship in the preliminaries,
then don't count them out!

I had to scramble when Miss Hawaii didn't make the final 15 (I was really looking forward to her Jump Roping Talent!) and Miss Florida was suddenly plucked in a new twist where contestants were eliminated during the segment instead of at the end of the segment!

Talk about being kept on the edge of your seat!

The last segment was an interview question answered by the remaining 5;

Miss Wisconsin (Laura Kaeppeler), Miss New York (Kaitlin Monte)
Miss Arizona (Jennifer Sedler), Miss California (Noelle Freeman)
and Miss Oklahoma (Betty Thompson)

I was very impressed with these ladies & their answers and feel any of them would have made a fine ambassador for the Miss America Organization.

Congratulations & Welcome Miss America 2012!
Laura Kaeppler, Miss Wisconsin 2011

Miss Wisconsin was asked;
If Politicians & Celebrities should use their position to promote their belief or their faith.
She gave one of the most truthful answers that I wish every Celebrity & Politician would hear.

She began by saying that she believes that the person should stand up for their political beliefs and for their faith but as  "Miss America represents everyone, so I think the message to political candidates & Celebrities is that they represent everyone as well,"
That by only representing one group their efforts are counter productive...
I probably botched the quote, Honestly she said it so much better than that!

I have to also admit, I'm not a big Opera singer, but her piece (In my way off base opinion) was probably one of the most moving I saw (My next favorite was the Irish Dance)

Some very interesting things of Note were revealed shortly after the crowning of Miss America

A surprise partnership with US Dream Academy!

If all you gathered was that this was JUST a beauty pageant...
Think again.
Miss America is the largest scholarship provider to Young Women in the United States and by tradition, empowers young women "to achieve their personal and professional goals, while providing a forum in which to express their opinions, talent and intelligence." Young Women who represents a higher standard all girls can look up to as a role model and someone who they can connect to.

I Love seeing where Miss Americas have come from and where they are going!
